It was a thrill to get this award in the mail today. Hi Point Amateur at our only show of 2022.
Pictured are the two geldings who won it for me, Amigo and Tomas.

So much fun to see this in print in the summer edition of The Journal! Last year was an incredibly memorable show year.
Many, many thanks to Cavallo Hoof Boots for sponsoring the 2021 AMHR Performance Horse of the Year, Alliance Boleros Tomas. Tomas will enjoy wearing them as he trains for world records in jumping! The entire Cavallo team is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful! Thank you all for your support! If anyone is interested in sponsoring Tomas or another of our World & National Champion show horses, please contact us directly for more information! Our first show of the year was a great success! I am very happy with how the two geldings that I brought performed, but what made it really fun was spending time with all of my horse show friends! Alliance Boleros Tomas Our first show in 6 months and I am so incredibly thrilled with how well he did. Open Halter Obstacle Under 1st under all 3 judges Amateur Halter Obstacle Under 2x1st, 1x2nd Amateur Showmanship Under Unanimous 1st Adult Jumper Under 3x1st Amateur Jumper Under 3x1st Open Hunter Under 1x1st, 2x2nd Amateur Hunter Under 2x1st, 1x2nd Silverleaf Little Rojo Amigo
Amigo's first time showing at the local level was a huge success! Amateur Halter Gelding Over 3x1st Open Halter Obstacle Over 1x3rd, 2x4th Amateur Halter Obstacle Over 1x2nd, 2x3rd Amateur Showmanship Over 3x1st Adult Jumper Over 3x2nd Amateur Jumper Over 3x1st! Open Hunter Over 2x2nd, 1x3rd Amateur Hunter Over 3x2nd To say I am overwhelmed is an understatement!! The feisty little stallion I bought for $600 from Craigslist on my birthday in 2019. The challenging little horse even as a gelding, that I was told by trainers in 2020 said could never be an obstacle or hunter horse has become the talented little horse who competed all year in a plain nylon halter because I couldn't afford him an actual show halter, and in spite of that won national championships in all 4 of his hunter and obstacle classes is now officially,
The 2021 AMHR Division A Performance Horse of the Year. Note, this award is determined by Hall of Fame points earned through participation in Hunter, Jumper, Obstacle, Liberty, and Versatility classes. Hall of Fame points are awarded based on the number in the class, so if there are more horses, you are awarded more points. Tomas competed in three of those categories, hunter, jumper and obstacle. He was the only horse in the Top 10 in more than one category. In Hunter he led 300 horses nationwide with 40 HOF points. This is a little late, but I have not had a chance to sit down and write this out until now. The 2021 AMHA World Show was quite an experience. Following Nationals so closely, it meant horses and humans were tired. Tomas especially was not thrilled, but managed some decent placings on youth weekend. In Open Jumper however, he tried his hardest and came through to win a very competitive class that included not less than four other multiple world champion jumpers.
Amigo was rested and ready to go the entire week winning his first World Championship with a Reserve in his first class, YOTE Country Pleasure Driving. He went on to add another Reserve in YOTE Geldings as well. He also placed 7th in a large youth liberty class and an extremely tough 13-18 Versatility class. In addition, he was Top 5 in YOTE Roadster, continuing to improve in that category. I am especially excited about showing him next year as he achieves more and more with each show. Below are the complete show results. Silverleaf Little Rojo Amigo Reserve World Champion YOTE Country Pleasure Driving Reserve World Champion YOTE Geldings Top 4, Youth Jumper 13-18 Top 5 YOTE Roadster Top 5 Open Jumpers 7th out of 35 in Youth Liberty 7th in a tough class of 21 in Youth Versatility 13-18 Top 10 in Youth Country Pleasure Driving 13-18, the only non professionally trained horse to place Alliance Boleros Tomas World Champion Open Jumpers Reserve World Champion YOTE Single Top 4, Youth Jumper 13-18 8th out of 24, Youth 13-18 Halter Obstacle. 8th out of 28, Open Halter Obstacle Our first National Show was a huge success.
Alliance Boleros Tomas, won: National Champion Amateur Hunter Under in a class of 53 National Champion Amateur Halter Obstacle Under with 45 in the class UNANIMOUS National Champion Open Hunter Under, 43 in the class and Reserve National Champion Open Halter Obstacle Under out of a class of 44, which was my fault. He ticked a pole in the 2nd part of the back thru because I was half asleep after 2am liberty and went a bit too fast without paying attention, so not his fault at all, but I'm still happy with Reserve. One judge did use him as 1st on the card though. At 16 months old, Rayvik Champ's Day Trooper placed well. In Amateur Halter Obstacle Over, he won 8th out of 44 and in Open Halter Obstacle Over, out of 36, he barely missed out of placing, coming in 11th. One judge did give him a 4th in that class on the card though. He needed to trot more in liberty, but he trotted right to me when I called him and used the whole arena. Great experience! He also won a top 10 in his halter class. We were very blessed and had a wonderful time seeing friends from around the country and making new ones. The 2021 AMHA Central Regional Championship Show was held July 9-11 in Belton, Texas. The weather was absolutely perfect, cool and cloudy which made the barns very comfortable and the air conditioning in the arena not as needed, but still appreciated. Tomas and Amigo did very, very well winnng 6 championships and 4 reserve championships collectively. Tomas had a wonderful show. He won the championship in a large class of Youth 13-18 Halter Obstacle as well as in YOTE Single Pleasure. He won Reserves, behind Amigo in both Youth 13-18 Jumper and Open Hunter, in addition to Reserve in Youth 13-18 Hunter behind a World Champion Hunter horse. Tomas also placed 4th out of 15 in Open Halter Obstacle and 5th out of 17 in Open Hunter. Amigo did amazingly, especially considering this was his first show since 2020 World. He won his first class when he took the Championship in both Youth 13-18 Jumper and Open Jumper. Later he won his first driving classes in Youth 13-18 Country Pleasure, defeating trainer's horses, and YOTE Country Pleasure. He also got the Reserve in YOTE Geldings and multiple Top 5's and 10's in Hunter, Halter and Open Driving.
In our first show outside of Texas, Tomas and Trooper were very successful! It was a double judged show with some good competition.
Trooper won Open Halter Obstacle Over under both judges and placed 1st & 2nd in Amateur Halter Obstacle Over. He also won Amateur Geldings Over, his Yearling class and got the Reserve Junior Championship. Tomas tried Halter at an AMHR show for the first time. He won Model Geldings and Solid Color, placing 2nd and 3rd in Amateur Geldings Under. In performance, he did extremely well, winning all 4 of his Hunter and Jumper Classes under both judges as well as Amateur Halter Obstacle Under. He also placed 1st and 4th in a large class of Open Halter Obstacle Under. |
